There is a beautiful
silence
between us.
One punctuated
by stares,
full of meaning,
a cup
brimming
with words
unsaid.

I drink in
your eyes,
that subtle
glint–
a wonder,
a curiosity.
I linger

in that corner
of your lips
where a playful
smile
drew itself.
There.
When finally

you laugh,
I feel your voice
tingling
like raindrops
on a parched earth.
I stumble

on the muddy
pathway
of meaningless
sound, groans,
syllables,
sentences,
thoughts–
my slender
hands,
grasping
the naked air.
I

gasp. You saw
the embarrassment
of my wordlessness
and we,

we share
one more meaningful
stare
and break into
fits
of laughter.
